The German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa (GISCO) is a joint initiative of the Federal Government, the German chocolate industry and retail as well as civil society. The goal of GISCO is to improve living conditions of cocoa farmers, to protect and preserve natural resources and biodiversity in the producing countries as well as to increase the proportion of sustainable cocoa. GISCO currently has more than 70 members and is open to other interested parties.

Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa
The Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched by the Swiss choco-late industry, the federal government and civil society to promote sustainability in the cocoa sector. Ac-tors engaged in the entire cocoa value chain joined the association to enhance the social, environmental and economic sustainability with the aim of improving the living conditions of cocoa producers and their families and creating an attractive cocoa sector for present and future generations. The targets are to source 80% of the imported cocoa from sustainable production by 2025 and to make a measurable con-tribution the Sustainable Development Goals.
